My son is heading to university nearby, so we came down for a visit and stayed Sunday to Tuesday. Our room, number 23, was nicely furnished and tasteful, with a lovely bathroom and a view across the harbour. We really enjoyed the food in the restaurant. I'd recommend booking ahead and asking for a table in the upstairs lounge, which has the best views. The service was excellent, and manager Kat did a great job.

On a wet, windy day, we ducked in for lunch and were glad to find a comfortable place to shelter. The bar area has plenty of room between tables. We had an excellent risotto and a great plate of smoked trout with horseradish crème fraiche and trimmings. The staff were friendly and helpful.

It's a relaxed little place, good for settling in with a couple of pints and watching the world go by, or sitting down to dinner with some decent wine. Finn, Logan and Demelza took great care of us.

We stopped for a drink on our way back to our holiday accommodation and were pleased to see the place busy. Sitting at one of the outdoor tables, we enjoyed beer and cider while watching the world go by. A staff member even offered me a sample of the beer, which earned full marks. If you're in St Mawes, it's a good place to stop for refreshments.

For our first wedding anniversary, we had a fantastic stay at St Mawes Hotel. The dinner view was stunning, and the service was excellent. The team had arranged cider and chocolates in our room, which made it feel extra special. Ellie deserves a mention too: she was very helpful with our bags and a brilliant waitress. Highly recommend!
