The food was quite palatable, the entertainment was good, and the staff worked hard in the dining room and bar and were friendly. Our room was large and clean, with the facilities I expected. Still, I’m giving it 3* because there was no hot water again. I woke at 7 to a cold shower each morning. They said it was depressurised, but I think the timer comes on an hour or two too late, since the water starts warming from 9. There was no heating either, which isn’t good enough. The hotel sits at the top of a long, steep hill, apparently known as cardiac hill, so it’s not for the faint-hearted or anyone infirm. It could be a decent hotel if they sort out the water.

The food was the worst I’ve ever had, absolutely terrible. The mattress was awful too, and although the shower water was hot, there was hardly any pressure. I wouldn’t use this company again. Surely there are better options out there.

The entertainment was great, and the food was okay, though it wasn’t very hot. I understand it’s hard to serve so many people at once. We stayed four nights and, on the whole, it was a good stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, our room was fine for the two of us, and the bedroom and bathroom heating worked very well. But every morning there was no hot water, even with signs warning about it. I complained daily and nothing changed. It was okay in the afternoon, but that wasn’t ideal. Come on, owners, please get it sorted.

The location is poor, right at the top of a huge hill. Rooms are very basic, and there wasn’t a hairdryer.

Our room, number 33, was nice and kept spotless every day. Reception and restaurant staff were extremely helpful. The hotel and dining room were very full, but within the limits of mass catering, the food and service were very good. It’s at the top of a steep hill. There’s a bus up and down during the day, or a taxi costs £4 to £5.
