Village Hotel Aberdeen

The sauna, hot pool, gym, restaurant, and bar make this place a dream, and the rooms are nice and clean with beds like clouds. Getting in and out can be a bit difficult, though there’s a big car park. Just remember the pool and gym are always being used for swimming lessons, and the gym is also a proper public gym, not just for hotel guests, so parking can be a concern. If you’re on foot, getting into Aberdeen can be a pain, but buses come every 5 to 10 minutes and take you right to the station. Driving should be no problem. Staff are lovely. There are discos in the bar, and we could hear every bang, which might bother you, but it was fine for us. We’d go back!

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the rooms were adequate and comfortable enough. The shower was very good. On the outskirts of Aberdeen, the hotel is handy for several oil companies, and the park and ride is just around the corner for trips into town. There’s a good gym, an indoor pool, and a large sports bar with a good range of food. There’s a Starbucks in the entrance as well.

I was there for work, so the location wasn’t too bad, though it’s not convenient for trips into the city centre. The food was okay, but the porridge was horrible. I had to change rooms because I was next to a connecting room door and could hear the young family and everything they were doing. Maybe I’m just sensitive to it. I’ve been told the gym and swimming pool are good.

The manager’s attitude was particularly unpleasant, which added to an already disappointing experience. We were also woken at 6:00 AM by fitness classes in the gym, clearly audible from our room. The food fell short too. The aubergine sat in a lot of water and had no seasoning, while the fish was bland and seemed boiled, with little flavour. It didn’t meet the standard we expected, and we were very disappointed.
