We loved the setting, it's so beautiful, though you'll need a car. You can also take a very scenic walk along the river into Kenmore, about 2 miles away. The lodge was spotless and nicely presented, with everything we needed. Such a cosy, luxurious find, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

A hot tub was a lovely addition to these comfortable, beautiful lodges and made for a great holiday.

The lodges are modern and luxurious, right by the river. But in September 2021, new lodges were being built, and the work started before 8AM. We let reception know the first morning it woke us, yet the same thing happened at the same time the next day. We knew there'd be daytime work and had been told it wouldn't affect our stay, but 10AM seems a more reasonable start. It should be great once the building is finished, just be aware if sleeping in is part of your holiday. My wife, an nhs nurse, was hoping to catch up on sleep too.

On clear nights, with no light pollution, the stars are amazing. After a busy day out, the hot tub is a treat, and there are plenty of good places to eat nearby. Tanfield Lodge also has comfortable beds, a great shower, the full SKY package and good WiFi. Thoroughly recommend staying here.
