The live music later on was fantastic, and lots of people seemed to be enjoying their meals, so hopefully my experience was a one off. I had the cow pie and mash, but the pie was full of gristle and didn’t have actual chunks of beef, which let down an otherwise great visit. I mentioned it to a lovely woman who I presume was the landlady, and she said they wouldn’t be using those pies again. Hey ho. The pub itself is nice, the staff are very friendly, and the nachos came in a massive portion with all the trimmings, sauces and dips.

It was an alright pub, but on a Saturday night it felt short on atmosphere.

The pub garden is great, especially when there’s live music. Inside, it has that good old English pub feel, though watch out for the low ceilings if you’re over 6 foot. Service was friendly enough.

Drinks are very pricey, and I wouldn’t come back unless I were a local who went regularly. The landlady was really rude, and I felt we were treated differently because we weren’t locals, even though we were in the right. One of my family’s dogs was attacked by a dog in the pub, not once, not twice, but three times. We were entitled to react, but ended up getting kicked out.

We held my father’s wake at the Red Lion, and the food laid on was amazing. The staff were great too. A big thank you to Dawn for all her hard work, and to everyone else. We’ll definitely go there for a meal.
