The room was beautiful and the seats were comfortable, and the location was lovely. The afternoon tea itself was average: some cakes were very heavy and hard to eat. I expected better service and tea. I booked it to share with my sister, who had come from Canada, for her 60th birthday. The waiter didn’t seem to have had customer service training. He started with “tea or coffee?” even though the afternoon tea description listed teas, none of which he offered. Then he called the food “snacks.” He struggled to fit everything on the table and pushed the cake stand into place without asking us to move things. We had to step in before things might have fallen off. When I asked for another pot of tea, he said he would bring one. I also asked for a clean cup because there was cold tea in mine, and he replied, “Oh go on then,” as if he were doing me a favour. When he brought the pot, he held the tray at such an angle that tea spilled all over the floor and nearly onto my sister and her coat. He left the big puddle there and didn’t come back to clean it. He never checked whether everything was okay. I emailed twice about my disappointment and got no reply, which was disappointing too.

The hotel was warm, welcoming and friendly, and a great place to stay. We arrived with a newborn, and they were very accommodating, going out of their way to make us comfortable. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing throughout, and both breakfast and dinner tasted great.

The food and service were even better than on my last visit. I stayed at Wentworth for three nights recently. Our usual large room had been taken, but the alternative was in very good condition and worked well.

The service was exceptional, and the rooms were clean and roomy. It’s in a great location too. A fabulous place to stay, I’d happily recommend it.

We stopped in for a few drinks and found the staff friendly. The location is great, and the terrace welcomes dogs, with water bowls provided. The menu and food we saw looked nice, so we’ll come back for lunch.
