The information boards at Kildrummy Castle are great, and there are a couple of picnic benches around the back if you need a rest. We spent about an hour exploring the magnificent ruins. Google Maps sends you to the wrong entrance if you select the castle itself, so I've added the car park location. The Snow Tower must have been beautiful in its day. A great day out.

There's ample parking, toilets and a very well stocked shop at Kildrummy Castle. The short walk from the shop follows a gravel path that's wheelchair friendly, though the castle itself isn't. The ruins are wonderful and very well preserved, and the grass is well maintained. Steeped in history, it's well worth visiting even as a ruin. The views are quite spectacular. I highly recommend it if you're in the area. 10/10.

The countryside and trees around Kildrummy Castle made the place feel like a fairy tale. The signs around the grounds helped fill in the historical gaps, with fascinating stories about the Wars of Independence and Robert the Bruce's sister, as well as the Jacobite uprisings. The walls and framed windows really set our imaginations going. We arrived as the employees were leaving in their cars. They were very nice and let us explore on the condition that we lock the parking gate as we left. We had the whole site to ourselves. I imagine it's not very busy most of the time, as it's not especially easy to get to. We'd been drifting along the back roads of the Scottish countryside and found the castle on a hill with a wonderfully quiet view. The ruins were much like other castles, but the Scotland Historical Society has looked after them fairly well. We hadn't realized it was a pay-to-visit site, though we'd forgotten we had our Historic Explorer pass, so we wouldn't have had to pay extra anyway.

A beautiful, peaceful setting, and I was the only one there. It's a great ruined castle.

The booklet gives good information, and the staff were friendly and informative. The building must have been massive and a real status symbol in its prime.
