New Accommodation

The pub noise and music were horrendous, and nobody had warned us that bands would be playing. There was no food until late at night, around 8pm, and no breakfast. Our first room had hairs and stains on the sheets, so we were moved to a smaller one that felt closed in. The shower wasn't great, the toilet was held together with expanding foam, and the bedroom laminate was lifting. The bathroom cabinets were filthy and covered in cobwebs. There were blood stains on the wall and hairs on another wall. On arrival, nobody asked our names or had forms for us to fill in. The TV only had ITV2 and Film4. I'll never go back. Avoid it like the plague.

I booked online and arrived soon afterwards without giving notice. The staff were really friendly and got the room ready on the spot, which I appreciated. After a tiring drive, the welcoming bar was a nice place to unwind, and the locals were friendly too, even to an Aussie, haha. The room was clean and good value. A really nice stay, thanks.

The beer garden is a lovely place to sit in warmer weather. It's tucked behind the pub, away from much of the road noise, with lots of tables and seats on a large, floodlit decked terrace. A few years ago, the New Inn was fully renovated in a tasteful modern style. It's a great village pub that brings in both younger and older drinkers. There's food, a good choice of draught real ales and ciders with guest ales that change regularly, as well as the usual drinks.

There are no food options at the pub, so we had to find somewhere for dinner and breakfast. I wouldn't stay again. The first room hadn't been cleaned, with a dirty toilet and bathroom and used tissues on the floor. After I complained, we were moved and waited in the bar for an hour, with no offer of a complimentary drink or anything. The new room was clean, but sleep was difficult: the bar has a late licence and the music carried on well past midnight, while the smoking area is right outside the room windows.
