Chai made for a lovely festive break. It was clean, warm and comfortable, with everything we needed for a short stay, and North East Escapes were great to deal with. Alnwick had more traffic and late night revellers than we'd expected, so the street noise was a downside, as was the lack of parking nearby. I'd happily recommend the apartment.

We picked the apartment as a base for Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle, with Alnwick Castle just behind it, though the castle was closed at that time of year. The location is central and the place is spacious, generally clean and nicely decorated, but getting parked can be a real lottery in this busy town. The listing mentioned free long stay parking nearby. There is a car park behind the apartment, but reaching it means crossing pebbles and going up a fairly steep slope, which isn't suitable for everyone. Parking is free in much of Alnwick, but long stay spaces are limited, and the two hour spots in front of the apartment are almost never free. There are stairs to reach the property, another difficulty if you're less mobile. Inside, the furniture and fittings feel worn. The sofa had water marks, and you could feel the springs in both bedroom mattresses. The kettle needed descaling, so I did it myself. I can't stand limescale.
