I spent two nights at Tate House after booking through Booking.com, and enjoyed it very much. Everything was clean and well maintained, and I felt there was more included than I'd expected for a room-only stay. My standard double was at the back of the house, with a lovely double bed, dressing table, two bedside units and an oak wardrobe with hangers. The en-suite had a basin, toilet and a good shower with plenty of space in the cubicle. They also provided a shower mat, thick fluffy towels, nice hand wash, shower gel, a shower cap and other toiletries I didn't use. The room was warm, comfortable and quiet at night. There was a kettle and mugs, plus hot chocolate sachets, fair trade coffee, Yorkshire teabags, chamomile and red berry herbal tea. Snacks included caramel biscuits, oat chocolate chip cookies, mint chocolates and a few fruit boiled sweets. A hot water bottle was in the wardrobe, though I didn't need it, and there was a hairdryer in the dresser drawer. The shared lounge downstairs had a good sized TV, a comfy sofa, a dining table, lots of books and a huge selection of DVDs for guests. Tate House is only a couple of minutes on foot from just about everything, including the playhouse and famous Barter Books, with town and Alnwick castle and gardens also a short walk away. I didn't need anything else. Many thanks.

The nights were wonderfully restful, with lovely linens, a comfortable bed, and plugs, lamps and switches all within easy reach. The area and other guests were quiet, so it felt like a peaceful home from home. The room was charming, a good size, nicely decorated, and had a pleasant en suite. They'd provided everything we could want, from a great tea and biscuit selection to toiletries. I've rarely stayed somewhere so clean. There wasn't a hair or speck of dust anywhere, and even the kettle looked brand new. The housekeeper has done amazing work, with real care taken over the details. Before our stay, Leo and Charlotte gave us helpful information on the self-check-in, travel, parking and more. The guest book was full of useful details about the house and local area, and it even pointed us to other local businesses. Tate House is in an ideal spot, and lovely both inside and out. Thanks, Leo and Charlotte. We'd recommend Tate House to anyone coming to the area, and would come back ourselves.

Tate house made a lovely base for exploring Anlwick. Our room was just right and had everything we needed, from a comfy bed, toiletries and hairdryer to a well-stocked tea tray, lots of biscuits and even sweets on the bedside table. There was also a sitting out area at the back. Thanks so much for a lovely stay : )

This clean, comfortable guest house is centrally located and offers room-only stays. There are lots of thoughtful extras, including toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities, and chocolates. We didn't have decaf coffee in our room, though. We were given room one, and its floors creak badly.

We found the room clean and quiet, and the caretaker (proprietor?) was a courteous, friendly fellow when we crossed paths while waiting for our taxi. The location is handy too, right at the end of Alnwick's main drag, with shops, pubs, restaurants, the Castle and Garden all a short walk away.
