My fiancé and I were looking forward to celebrating our pre-honeymoon in Alnwick, but seeing our room put a stop to that. We checked in alongside another couple; when they opened their door, they said, “It’s okay, at least we have our own toilet and shower.” That was their reaction, just “okay.” There was hair on our toilet and sink, and the sink clogged as soon as we turned on the water. The shower caulking was mouldy, and the caulking and greasy carpets badly need replacing. We contacted the manager, but she took days to reply and was condescending when she eventually wrote, “enjoy your trip.” The trip was already ruined. We had to find somewhere else to stay and didn’t get even a partial refund of our deposit. We also missed the castle grounds, which we’d flown ten hours to see and had been so excited about. I feel potential guests should be warned about this B&B.

The rooms are basic and good value, and the host was really helpful. We stayed one night and found the beds super comfy, with heating and a hot shower. Shops and pubs are only a few minutes’ walk away, and there are plenty of stunning hiking spots nearby.

A great last-minute find for a Friday weekend road trip. We stayed one night, booked at the last minute, and Tracey was so helpful and lovely on the phone. She sent a text with local recommendations, which we tried for food and drinks. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed. The shower was either very hot or freezing, but everything else was good. Perfect location.

The staff onsite were polite and friendly, and it’s a good place for a short break. The location is excellent, close to Alnick Castle and Gardens. The room was a little dated, and the separate shower area was a bit narrow. Access to the toilet may be difficult for anyone with mobility issues because of the downward slope.

Tracy was very friendly and helpful, and the location is ideal in the town centre. Room 3 downstairs was small, with a very small bathroom and shower. There was no hot water in the bathroom until the morning we left, when it came back.
