Haven Cottage

Amanda and Mark made our honeymoon holiday in Ambleside feel so special. They were lovely and welcoming from the start. Amanda congratulated us on our marriage when we arrived and thanked us for choosing their B&B, and after staying here we couldn't have picked a better place. Breakfast was brilliant, and as someone avoiding gluten I was glad to have a fried breakfast and even some toast. They went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed, including extra towels, tips for good gluten-free places to eat, and suggestions for visits such as the steam train, just a short ferry ride away. The room was beautiful, bright and spacious, yet cozy at night, with a peaceful view from the balcony. Shops are only a five-minute walk away, and there's a scenic bus right outside to places from Grassmere to Bowness to Keswick. The Grassmere bus is open top, making for a lovely ride. We'd definitely recommend it for a short trip or a longer stay.

We came back to Haven Cottage for our second visit, this time for our wedding anniversary, and it's still five stars. Mark and Amanda are so welcoming, and the room was beautiful and spotless, with thoughtful details everywhere. Room 8 has a balcony with a bistro table and chairs, nice for dry Lakeland days. There are comfy chairs and a TV in the sitting area, and the bed is probably the comfiest. The huge fluffy white towels, bathrobes and toiletries from The Bath House in Ambleside add a lovely luxury touch. Breakfast is a treat, with healthy, locally sourced food and plenty of homemade dishes, all cooked perfectly. Amanda is a qualified nutritionist. Mark and Amanda made another stay feel perfect and went the extra mile again. We'll definitely return and highly recommend it.

We spent two nights at Haven Cottage from 30th June for my birthday weekend, and had a fantastic time. Mark and Amanda are wonderful hosts, and breakfast was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was comfortable and clean, with luxury toiletries, towels and bathrobes supplied. Parking on site and an electric charging point made things hassle-free, and the location is perfect. We'd highly recommend it and hope to return one day.

We stayed two nights and would happily visit again. The hosts were excellent, taking time to explain things and suggest places to go locally. The place is nicely decorated, with lovely touches, and has on-site parking. Breakfast was lovely, ordered the night before and served piping hot with local produce. Excellent bed and breakfast, with fantastic service and food. Highly recommend staying here.
