We went for Sunday lunch and had a fantastic pub experience. There was a great selection of roasts on an excellent menu, all at a very reasonable price. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and service was excellent. Seating was comfortable, including in the lower restaurant area. Highly recommended when you’re visiting Hawkshead.

We stopped in for food and drinks after a nearby hike and were glad we did. The atmosphere was lovely, especially at the fireplace where we sat. I had a delicious seafood chowder, and the kids really enjoyed their cheeseburgers. We didn’t stay overnight.

First time at this Red Lion, which is one of England’s most common pub names. We think it’s a Stonegate pub. There’s a small traditional bar, a separate room for pool and a little outdoor patio. Madge and Norma treated me to a pint of Black Sheep bitter, which I usually avoid because I find it a bit bland. There were three real ales to choose from. A nice enough pub, worth a visit.

The food was amazing and the service sterling. We arrived with our parrot and dog and were welcomed with open arms. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this pub.

Right next to the pub there’s some parking, and the food downstairs was excellent. Service was really friendly, and the room and beds were comfortable. A fabulous place to stay in a beautiful little village, with lots of interesting shops on the doorstep.
