The owners were so helpful throughout, from hike suggestions to extra firewood and everything in between. We stayed in No1, and all the rooms were clean and cosy. There’s so much walking to do in one of the Lake District’s best valleys that even a whole week wouldn’t be enough. The Old & New Dungeon Ghyll are both decent pubs, less than a 15 minute walk from the cottage. Best of all, after a day out, you can sit by the fire and look back towards the Langdale Pikes. I left wishing I could call this place home. What a lovely place to be!

The two farmers who let One side house cottage are wonderful. They even let us join them to feed their highland cows! It’s a gorgeous farmhouse and a perfect base for exploring the Langdale valley.
