The rooms were clean and tidy, pretty much what you'd expect from a Travelodge, and I'd use it again for an overnight stay in Ashbourne. It's right at the edge of town and easy to reach, with plenty of parking. Aldi and a pub are about 20 metres away, so you've got options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Walking into Ashbourne was straightforward, about 20 minutes on a paved footpath. The Tissington Trail starts around a 25-minute walk away, via the footpath to the leisure centre and the tunnel behind it.

The location was easy to find and had parking, and the room was clean, though very dated and due for a refurb. There was also a strange smell upstairs, around the first floor rooms. I booked at the last minute for £80, which felt quite pricey. We arrived late, but the staff were friendly. There's a vending machine in reception, though the prices are high, and a pub next door that serves food and breakfast.

It was a small room, but very clean and quiet. I wish it were clearer that the parking is shared with the pub.

The staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be, given the limited facilities, but this felt like a motel at best, well below the standard I expect from a hotel. The bed was uncomfortable, and it was hard to control the room temperature. There's no food on site, just Aldi across the road or a pub by the car park. Space in the room and the number of towels were both limited. To check in, you have to call someone on a mobile phone, and I had to borrow one.

For a one-night stay, the hotel had everything I needed and there was nothing wrong with it. There's no food, but a pub is on site and Aldi is across the road.
