The food was some of the best we've had, full of flavour and cooked just right. We'd seen the great reviews after stumbling across The Rising Sun, so we returned the next day when it was open. They were right. It's spotless and welcoming, with a relaxed, homely feel, and the staff are all warm and attentive. It felt like home as soon as we walked in, and it's genuinely family and pet friendly. We've already booked more visits and are telling friends and family about it. Highly recommended.

The scampi is a huge hit with my two children. They both say it's the best they've ever had, and I feel comfortable bringing them here. It's a family-friendly pub with delicious food at really reasonable prices. We only recently found this hidden gem, but it's already a favourite. The beer garden looks lovely and spacious, and I can't wait to enjoy it when the weather gets nicer.

We only left half an hour ago and already want to come back, hopefully when we can sit in the gorgeous little beer garden. The food was delicious and the portions were just right. Staff were friendly and attentive from the moment we arrived, and made us feel well looked after. The atmosphere was phenomenal too. There's also a sweet little dog shop and a free pool table.

We were staying at the local campsite and walked about a mile along the lanes for Sunday lunch, with a few steep climbs on the way. It was worth it. The Sunday roast was excellent and good value at £13-50 for quality food, and the sweet was great too. The pub is immaculately clean, with instant curb appeal, a lovely beer garden and a little shop for dog-related things. Friendly staff, decent beers, great food, and a nice modern-meets-traditional feel. We liked it so much we booked another visit.

I learned the hard way that they're closed on Mondays. I pulled into the car park in the dark and hit the chain they'd put across the entrance, denting the bonnet and wing of my beloved car. There were no lit warning signs. They're only open in the evenings during the week, closing at 10pm on the days they're open, and at weekends they stop serving food not much past 6pm. I really don't know how they make enough money to stay open.
