The wood burner made the place lovely and warm, and the accommodation itself was charming and quirky. The hostess was excellent. I’m 6ft, though, and kept hitting my head on the living-room lampshade; even using the sinks was awkward. At least that gave me an excuse not to do the washing up. The setting also felt less rural than expected, with houses on two sides of the field and industrial units across the road along part of another side.
