The staff were lovely, friendly and chatty, and every course was a delight, cooked superbly. It’s a brilliant modern British take on Northern Spanish food. I’ve been getting more into fish lately, so I had the hake this time, and it was cooked perfectly. Three courses cost £45, which felt very reasonable for what we had. They don’t automatically add a service charge, something I really hate in restaurants, though I was happy to pay it here. I’ll visit again soon!

We stayed overnight, and the room was clean and comfortable, with a good range of toiletries, blackout blinds and plenty of tea and coffee. The bed was comfortable too. Dinner was stunning, and they catered well for an allergy. Delicious food, exemplary service, and I’d highly recommend it.

A nice little restaurant owned by Mark Sergeant. The food was very good, especially the scallops, and the service was appropriate. I found the menu quite pricey, though. Two courses for two people and one drink came to over £100. I’d have given five stars if it had been a little less expensive.

The meal at the Wife of Bath in Wye, Kent was really nice. We started in the bar with a maderised white Rioja, which they took off the bill straight away. Everything after that was excellent, including the wild mushrooms, Galician steak and lovely red wine. Service was excellent too. The room and bed were pleasant, but the room was small and very quiet, with little space for anyone or anything. The bathroom was really cramped. With my limited mobility, I couldn’t get into the bath to shower. Breakfast was nice, though a bit oily.

The train ride from Ashford is only seven minutes, and this place beats a Premier Inn by miles, probably for less money. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were great, and there were thoughtful little touches everywhere. I had dinner in the restaurant and it was delicious. I had to leave before breakfast, so they put together a hamper for me to take along. Nothing was too much trouble.
