Blue Boar Inn

The service was friendly and really efficient, and the room was warm despite the wet, cold weather outside. We came with a few friends and found plenty to choose from on the menu. Since it was fish Tuesday, I ordered the large cod and chips. The fish was enormous, cooked just right and delicious. I'd definitely recommend it, and this pub too.

I was here for a funeral, unfortunately, but the staff were so welcoming and friendly. There was a good supply of drinks, especially gins, and a large function room at the back where food can be served. I looked through the kitchen door and it seemed clean and well managed. It's a lovely local pub.

We went because my girlfriend has been involved with the charity for people with dementia. The vegan options were very limited, with just one main, a 'teriyaki stir fry'. They said they didn't have the baby sweetcorn listed in it, though that wouldn't have made much difference. When it arrived it looked like something I'd left in the toilet that morning. The taste wasn't horrible, but the appearance was awful and the texture was unpleasantly homemade. The vegan dessert was a tiny, dry, cold chocolate orange tart. Am I going back? You bet I won't.

The fish platter and mixed grill were both superb. Friendly staff and quick service made for a great family meal, and the food quality and presentation were spot on. There's a good range of draft beer, fair prices and plenty of menu choice. Pretty much everything I could want from a pub, I'd highly recommend it.
