Travelodge Shrewsbury Battlefield

We stayed with family and friends after the funeral of a close friend’s mother. The hotel is lovely, but our experience at reception was awful. Corrie was rude, impatient and unhelpful. We gave her the names for each booking, but she said she couldn’t find them and wouldn’t check a booking reference until we insisted. When she saw that there were rooms under each name we’d given, she said we hadn’t provided the right names. We had. Terrible customer service ruined the stay.

We slept well during our two-night stay, and it was completely quiet at night. I left a personal item behind, but the hotel called within five minutes of us leaving to let me know. Really good service.

We stayed for one night. My husband had been here before for work and said the rooms had been updated. The room had the basics, was clean and quiet, and the receptionist was friendly. The bathroom could use some care: something had been dropped in the sink and cracked it, and the bath fixtures needed replacing. Still, it was fine for a night. There’s no cooked breakfast, just a packed breakfast box, which we skipped because other breakfast places are nearby. Plenty of parking, including disabled bays.

The room was comfortable, and it’s a great place to stay, though a few parts feel a bit tired.
