We’ll definitely come back. It was a quiet, picturesque spot, great for anyone who enjoys the countryside. Our room for the night was spacious, warm and comfortable, with everything we needed. The inn itself is full of old character, and the staff were attentive, friendly and wonderful. The food was excellent and homemade. We eat meat, though I did notice some vegetarian and vegan choices too. Thanks to everyone who made our stay so lovely.

The breakfast was excellent and included in the price, and the double bed was very comfortable. We also liked the friendly welcome, the village setting and all the nearby walking options. There was plenty of free parking behind the pub. The single bed was a letdown, with springs you could clearly feel through the mattress, so I slept badly. The shower pressure was low. Body wash and shampoo weren’t advertised, so it’s only a small suggestion, but providing them would make a nice difference for guests and cost the owner very little.

We only meant to stop for a quick drink at this lovely old village pub, but ended up staying for lunch. The welcome was warm and the service just as good. There’s a nice range of local beers, pub food on the lunch menu and a specials board. If you’re near Hawkchurch, pop in. You won’t be disappointed.

We ate at the pub both nights and really enjoyed the food, which was very reasonably priced. There isn’t much choice nearby because it’s so isolated, unless you’re willing to drive elsewhere. The cooked breakfast was good and included in the price. It’s a country pub with loads of charm, in a very quiet spot. The Land Lady and Scrappy Doo gave us a warm welcome, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed for two nights and would definitely return if we’re in the area again. I recommend the Venison pie with a glass of red.

Leah made us a delicious breakfast each morning, and we had a great time in the pub too, enjoying the company of the locals who go there. My husband, our two children and I all loved our stay. The family room was comfortable and a high standard. Very good value for money.
