Best Western Plus - Magnolia Park

Our group of eight had booked a family roast by phone, but when we arrived there wasn't food arranged for us. The receptionist was incredibly unhelpful. We sat in the garden, which wasn't clean, and though the waiter covered our dirty table with a cloth, that didn't improve the experience. The food wasn't good: stringy, chewy beef, overcooked Yorkshire puddings and greasy vegetables. Our plates stayed uncleared for the full two hours, and the toilets weren't very clean either. We wouldn't return or recommend this restaurant.

I liked the hotel overall and would stay again. The rooms were well turned out, the staff friendly, and the shower was especially nice. Dinner was lovely and breakfast was a decent buffet. WiFi was fast enough to stream a film, and I had a full 4G signal on EE despite the countryside location. My two issues were that the air-con only provided heat and the rooms didn't block much sound, so machinery near my room disturbed me a bit at night.

Our room was excellent, with plenty of space in both the bedroom and bathroom and a veranda looking over the golf course. I was a little disappointed by the restaurant, which is basically the lounge bar area. A more formal dining setup would have made this five stars.

I spent New Year's Eve here with friends. The event ran well, with good food and excellent staff. Diane, Grace and the lady at reception deserve a special mention; they made the night even more enjoyable. Our room was very nice too, and the bed was really comfortable.
