B+B Belgravia

The service was lovely and everything was easy, including being able to check in early and leave our bags. My friend and I were in London for a concert, and the location worked perfectly, about a 10-minute walk from Victoria station. Our room was bright, clean and lovely, with a comfortable bed and a good-sized bathroom. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it.

The staff were kind, and we got lucky because our room was ready when we arrived around 9am. The outside looks like a cute, ordinary townhouse, and Victoria Station is just a 10-minute walk away. The room was okay, clean apart from a little mould in the shower. It was quite small, though it had a little kitchen area. It got very hot and stuffy at night, so the fan they’d left for us came in handy. I’d recommend it for a few nights.

The custom-cooked breakfast was great, the coffee machine excellent, and the staff were really nice. The beds were clean and comfortable, though both rooms could do with a bit more decor. We expected small, simple rooms at this price. Both were in the basement with small windows. One room for two adults and two kids was adequate, but its moldy bathroom needed some renovation. The other had two bedrooms and a bath, and was the nicer one, though it faced the street and we could hear people and cars. The location was excellent for walking and getting to the tube or trains. If you know Upstairs Downstairs or Belgravia, you’ll know the neighborhood. My window had a real “servants’ hall” view 😁 (the stairs weren’t in use).

The room temperature was far too high, whatever the weather was like outside, and there was loud banging through the night. I took videos at different times to record it, and shutting the window didn’t stop the noise. We were so tired the next morning that we couldn’t enjoy breakfast. The bathroom also felt unsafe: no grab bars in the shower, and the marble floor was dangerously slippery. The window opened from the bottom, with a big drop to concrete below, which seemed like a serious safety risk. The room didn’t meet basic health and safety standards. This was meant to be a special trip for my daughter’s 21st birthday, after taking her to see Wicked in Victoria. The gentleman who checked us in was pleasant and helpful, but the rest of the stay didn’t meet expectations. At checkout, I told the receptionist about the problems and showed her the videos. She apologised and said a refund seemed appropriate, but the manager wasn’t available. I left my details and was told the manager would contact me. I’ve had no follow-up, even after emailing. The experience spoiled what should have been a memorable visit, and I’m disappointed the issues weren’t dealt with properly. Stayed on 23-24th August.
