After an overnight flight from Toronto, Canada, we stopped at the Dinton Hermit for one night with our dogs while moving to Wales. Its location near Luton airport, dog-friendly welcome, inviting look, and promise of comfortable rooms and good food made it seem like the right place to rest. It was exactly what we needed before continuing to our new home. The country inn was beautiful, the food in the restaurant was amazing, and our room was comfortable enough for a much-needed good night’s sleep. The people made the stay especially good. The woman cleaning the rooms brought our dogs water straight away and cuddled them. The restaurant and bar staff also went out of their way to accommodate meals for us and our dogs. Thank you all!

Sunday lunch began really well. The service was friendly and attentive, the trio of roast was very tasty, and I enjoyed a lovely glass of Malbec. After they cleared our mains, though, service vanished. We’d hoped to order dessert, but after hearing the table next to us had waited so long they went up to pay, we did the same. Another nearby table was told their long wait was because a large party had arrived and was given a free round of drinks as an apology. Several staff were around, but it seemed only one person was taking orders. Some tables had already been warned that the kitchen had asked staff to pause new orders. The whole thing felt badly organised. On a Sunday lunch, you’d expect tables to be staggered so the kitchen wouldn’t get overwhelmed. Service wasn’t included on our bill, thankfully, because I would have asked for it to be taken off. The food itself was very good, which made it a shame that I never got to try the blackberry and white chocolate cheesecake I’d been looking forward to. I picked up a Gü key lime pie cheesecake from Sainsbury’s on the way home instead. Based on the service, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Our work-from-home team meets in person regularly, and we had a really positive day using the meeting rooms at The Dinton Hermit. The space was comfortable, practical, and set up well for a full day of working together. The plug sockets built into the table legs were a small but brilliant touch, so everyone could plug in without extension leads trailing everywhere. Dan looked after us from start to finish. He was incredibly helpful with everything we needed and made the day run smoothly. We also stayed for Christmas lunch, which was a lovely way to finish a productive meeting. We’ll definitely return and recommend The Dinton Hermit to teams looking for a professional but relaxed place to meet.

A bottle of Prosecco was waiting in our lovely, beautifully decorated room when we arrived for a night away in early January. The welcome was warm, and the staff were friendly and professional. We enjoyed delicious food and a good choice of dishes on the menu. We’ll be back.

I’ve eaten here around 3/4 times now, and the service is always excellent 👌. The food is great too, especially the roast, probably the best I’ve had eating out. It has that homemade taste and feel, if you know what I mean, not like a standard pub roast. The location is beautiful, especially in summer. I never give 5 stars, but I’d happily have given four and a half if that were an option. Well done Dinton Hermit, the food was fabulous this evening.
