The view from The Mole & Chicken was lovely, even with the wet, windy weather, and the dining room itself is a nice little spot. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. Since the change in management, it seems much more settled than it did during lockdown. The food was good, unpretentious pub grub on the more upmarket side. Nothing especially remarkable, but we cleared every plate.

The crab starter was a real highlight, and the menu has plenty of inventive dishes alongside the familiar pub classics. There’s a great range of wines and beers too. It’s cosy, with lovely decor, and the welcome from the staff was warm. They were friendly and attentive throughout, which made the meal feel special. Everything was very clean, with hand sanitiser dotted around. There’s plenty of parking, and rooms are available, which we might use on a future visit. It’s under new management and definitely worth a visit. Great work, keep it up!

The food was delicious. The mushroom mousse starter and crispy duck salad were both top-notch, and the triple-cooked chips are among the best I’ve had in a pub. It’s a lovely venue too, tucked away in an old, quaint building with a wonderful view. Friendly staff, a real-log fire, and a nice back area round it out.

We started by sharing the Scotch egg with haggis, then had roast pork and beef for our mains. Every part of the roast was exceptional, and it all came with a smile.

The tiered decking is a real pleasure, with lovely rural views. Inside, the decor is charming, the bedrooms are comfortable, and the staff seem experienced. Beers are well kept, the menu has some interesting choices, and breakfast was good too.
