The room was lovely, the bed cosy, and the shower excellent. The whole building was clean, and it’s a good base for exploring the area or for the hospital visit I needed to make. The room was well worth the price, and I was grateful to have it. I’d still recommend the place, but the kettle caused a real problem. Its small unit was pushed against a double socket, so I couldn’t reach the plug. With a damaged rib, plugging it into a floor socket was difficult, and I wasn’t happy having it on the beautiful carpet. The very small kettle overflowed badly when I boiled it, losing half its contents. My husband filled it to the max mark and it was worse, shooting water up like a fountain. He was scalded trying to switch it off, and we used most of the towels to mop up both spills. I also couldn’t reach the owners on either contact number they’d left. When we mentioned it as we were leaving, because it could be more serious with a child nearby or someone less able to react, the owner seemed surprised and said it was probably the thermostat. That’s why I can’t give an excellent score. The place itself is very nice indeed.

A fantastic family room, clean and comfortable, and excellent value. Great B&B for a quick stopover before catching the ferry to Arran.

The rooms seemed clean and cosy, with complimentary bathroom products, and the staff were friendly. I felt a bit anxious when the lady spoke to me, though I may just have read her wrong. We paid extra for breakfast, then found the pastry had a questionable best-before date. My one-year-old had some smoothie that was a month out of date. I only checked it after seeing the pastry date, since I’m very particular about food dates. I’d expect everything served at breakfast to be edible without having to check. The milk pods in the room were also past their date by even longer. One item might have been a mistake, but with three different consumables out of date, it felt like customer care was lacking.

I liked my stay so much that I decided to extend it. Nothing was a problem, and the couple were very friendly. The location is fantastic. I recommend it when visiting the area. Thanks again.

Over our six-week trip we stayed in dozens of places, and this one was easily the best. Great people, great food, and really great rooms!
