The breakfast was outstanding, and the hosts made us feel so welcome. My room had been updated and was furnished nicely. Sheldon's Retreat is in the countryside near Chatsworth House, about 6 kilometers away, with a small pub 100 meters up the road serving lunch and dinner. There's no Wi-Fi, which suited me for a proper getaway, though my mobile still worked fine. I was in London on business, visiting from California, and wanted a weekend in the English countryside. This place was just right. We'll be back next summer with the whole family.

We'd planned a week on the coast, but that fell through, so we ended up holidaying in the peak district again. Finding this place at short notice was a real treat. The view was stunning, and there was loads of parking out back. The owners were kind and helpful, and the rooms felt open and airy, with a clean, modern look. Breakfast was simple, just toast, fruit, cereal, and hard-boiled eggs, but it was nice.

The place is gorgeous, and the host was lovely. Everything was impressively clean, with stylish decor. There was no Wi-Fi or meat, and the TV in the room was tiny.
