The Three Tuns Hotel

The festive feel of the lovely space made our Christmas lunch with my Mum even nicer. We both enjoyed every course. It was just lovely, and I’d highly recommend it.

The pub itself has a nice setting, and the service was friendly and good. The pies, though, were overcooked and dry. The onion gravy was basically cooked onions, while the gravy meant to be a red wine jus was a strange beige colour instead of the dark gravy that goes with a pie. I’d be fine stopping in for a drink, but wouldn’t recommend eating here.

We come back two or three times a year, and the village and local places make each stay enjoyable. The Three Tuns is right by Ashwell Springs, and Day’s the local bakers and Crumps the butchers are worth a visit too. There’s lots to see and do nearby, especially if you’re interested in archaeology, history or wildlife. We love the atmosphere here, with superb management and friendly, efficient staff.

We were staying at the local caravan site and found this to be a friendly, lovely local pub. The food was good, with a nice selection. We’ll come back.
