We remembered having a great time at this hotel more than 20 years ago, when it was privately owned, so we booked the “memories for 2” offer hoping for that feeling again. After our first night, it hadn’t really lived up to it. The log burner made the bar lovely and cozy when we arrived a little early for our booked dinner, but it went out early, so after 8 pm the bar no longer had that warm feel. For dinner, we were told to wait to be seated, then directed to a table that didn’t suit us. We asked to sit in the lovely glass-fronted area, where several tables were free, but were told those were reserved and we had to use the assigned table. We went along with it, then saw those tables stay empty for well over an hour and a half. Other diners who had apparently complained were later moved into that area. Our dinner was okay, but the table was so sticky we couldn’t rest our arms on it. Staff later told us there are no table reservations, so we were confused about who was managing the dining area and how anyone gets a table in the glass-fronted section. We’ll keep our memories from 20 years ago and try other hotels.

Dinner was delicious, and having our table look out over the loch made it even nicer. Breakfast had lots of options and plenty to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Isles of Glencoe hotel. The hotel was clean and nicely furnished, and the staff were helpful and considerate.

The Loch View Room had lovely Arran products, plus a bottle of water and plenty of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. Everyone on staff was friendly and pleasant, and the barman and restaurant team gave great service. The young woman who cleaned our room was very courteous and did a great job. We also had a nice chat with the receptionist from Portugal. There was a good choice at breakfast to suit different tastes, and the seating area by the fire was comfortable for a drink.

The team made our son’s 13th birthday celebration feel so special, and we’ll treasure the stay. Luca, the Restaurant Manager, was incredibly helpful and resourceful, with great suggestions for our Highland adventure. Mihae and Lorand in the restaurant brought real care and attention to every meal, and Martha at Reception was kind and thoughtful, making us feel at home and answering all our questions about the area. We saw them treat everyone with that same warmth, friendliness and helpfulness. It felt authentic, like being welcomed into someone’s home. The Isles of Glencoe Hotel is beautifully placed for exploring Glencoe’s dramatic landscapes, and the mix of Highland scenery and personal service made it feel like a home away from home. We’ve already recommended it to friends and family, and will absolutely return. Thank you to the whole team.

We arrived on 23 December for four nights as part of the glenton coach tour, and were made to feel like second-class guests. The hotel itself is beautiful, with lovely scenery, a nicely decorated main lounge and restaurant, a Christmas tree and a lovely log fire. For meals, though, we were put in another room that felt cold and unwelcoming, with very little decoration. The tables were so sticky that paper napkins clung to them, there were no table covers, even on Christmas Day, and no side plates for buttering bread. The food was tasteless and cold, and took ages to arrive. One afternoon there was a gin table, but when I went over, I was told it wasn’t for the coach party, only for the other hotel guests. The manager heard about it, came to apologize, clarified that it was for all guests and got me a complimentary drink. This could be a really good hotel, but they need to sort out these problems.
