Millfields Hotel

I'm here while visiting family at the nearby hospital, which is just a short walk away. Room 53 is clean, comfortable and well equipped, and the staff have been friendly, helpful and very accommodating as my plans keep changing. I can't fault my stay and would highly recommend the hotel.

Millfields gave us a relaxed, comfortable way to end what had been a tough and tiring day. We chose it for our father's wake, and our family came from far and wide. We spent most of the afternoon there and were left to ourselves, with no pressure to hurry; we could leave when we were ready. Everything was just right, from the room and delicious buffet to the general atmosphere. Thank you.

I've stayed here many times without issues, which is why I booked again, but Room Number 10, beside the main hotel, was unsatisfactory. The hotel lists usable additions such as a TV and iron, but the fan didn't work and the toilet wouldn't flush. I embarrassingly left it unplugged when I checked out. I reported the problems and got an apology and was told they'd sort it because they couldn't put someone in a room with things not working. There was no reduction in the charge, though. As a regular guest, I found that unprofessional, and I don't have any incentive to return.

Room 29 had just been refurbished and still smelled new. It was large, clean and fresh, with good heating, tea and coffee, a great TV and a bath big enough for two. The powerful shower above it was hot, and all the shower products were there. The TV volume toggle took me a while to figure out, so some instructions would have helped. I stayed Saturday night. The welcome was amazing. Marie the manager and the rest of the staff made me feel special, and the service was attentive and friendly. Food and drinks during the day were tasty, fresh and served properly. Carl the chef and his team really know how to make filling, quality food. Dinner came to £96 for two belly pork starters and mains of fish and chips and a chicken fillet; the wine was £27. The menu was excellent, with real food and homemade chips. Breakfast was faultless, well worth it, and generous portions with quality throughout. I highly recommend the place. If you have a special anniversary or similar, get in touch, as they go the extra mile. I'll keep recommending it.
