Breakfast was the standout, with plenty of tasty choices cooked to order. I’ve never had porridge this good! The host was friendly and accommodating, and our room was spotless and cosy, with really comfortable bedding. My partner and I stayed here after a few days camping and hiking at Loch Lomond, and had a great time.

The breakfast was the best I’ve had at a bed and breakfast. We stayed in December 2025 after landing at Glasgow airport at 11am with small children, all of us badly jetlagged. Andrea let us check in before 2pm, and we slept right through until 6am the next morning. The rooms were clean and cosy. Highly recommend.

Andrea made us feel very welcome during our two nights here on a Scotland road trip. The rooms were clean and comfortably furnished, and her breakfast was a definite 10/10! 🤩 I’d absolutely recommend staying here.

Update: The owner replied to my review and it seems our problem may have been bad luck caused by technical issues. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and add a few stars. Originally, I couldn’t get a response to my email or the enquiry form on their own website. Booking.com showed several rooms available, while booking directly on the guest house website was cheaper. After a few days without a reply, the availability was gone and no one had contacted me.

The breakfast had lots to choose from, was freshly made with local products, and everything we tried was delicious. We arrived very late because check-in was already delayed, but were greeted with real warmth. Our street-facing room was spacious and still quiet, and the bed was super comfortable. Gowanlea Guest House is a lovely place to stay. Thanks for a nice visit :)
