On a recent visit, both guests were mobile and we were given an accessible room. I would have preferred to be asked whether I needed one, and not assigned it when the answer was no. That's especially frustrating because, on an earlier stay with a friend who used a wheelchair, the hotel couldn't provide an accessible bathroom. Reception staff should at least ask if guests enjoyed their stay, even if feedback isn't a high priority. Customer satisfaction needs more attention.

Evita looked after us so attentively all evening. We had dinner and drinks here with our pup, and the service was friendly and accommodating, which was such a refreshing change. Bonnie even got her own steak dinner and welcome pack. A fantastic, very dog-friendly stay!

We spent Valentine's weekend at the Marine Hotel Ballycastle after deciding to visit Northern Ireland, and it turned into a string of problems. At check-in after 3pm on the 13th, nobody told us how parking registration worked or what time breakfast ran. We missed the included breakfast on our first morning and were told that was our own fault. We only avoided a parking fine because we overheard staff explaining the car park to the couple ahead of us. The hotel had bought the old car park, which is free for residents, but you have to provide your car registration. The shower pressure kept dropping to nothing and then coming back. I have four videos showing it. We reported it, but nobody came to check. That evening, while we were in bed together, two strangers opened our door and came into the room. The hotel had given them access to the same room. That's dangerous and unacceptable, especially if someone is staying alone. They went back to reception to get another room, and then we got a call about what had happened. The hotel offered us a drink as an apology. We don't drink alcohol, so we asked for tea, but it never arrived. We suspect they gave it to the other guests who had entered our room. There was also a £5.18 overcharge. I can provide my card statement and the booking.com total if they dispute that. When I spoke to the Manager at reception, she said they'd reimburse me, but as of 19/02/2026 that still hadn't happened. She offered us a meal at the restaurant that evening, which we declined. It was Valentine's Day and we already had a reservation at 19 by Katherine Carr, which I'd recommend if you're in the area. The Manager asked for our personal email so she could address the issues. We gave it to her, but nothing came through. I raised it again at checkout and was told an email would follow on Monday because she worked part-time. It was Thursday at 17:00 when I wrote this, and I'd still heard nothing. Then our room card was cancelled and we couldn't get back in. Absolutely beyond a joke. Bravo, Marine Hotel. Feel free to reply and point out anything you think is false or incorrect, we're happy to provide evidence. Quick recap: no information about parking registration or breakfast hours, no shower pressure and no one checked after we reported it, two strangers entering our room, no promised tea, an overcharge that hasn't been reimbursed, no follow-up email from the Manager, and our room card cancelled. Happy Valentine's Day!

Over Valentine's weekend, the hotel assigned our room to other guests too, and two strangers walked in while we were there. A massive breach. They said they'd send tea to apologize, but it never came. The shower pressure was awful and cut out completely. At check-in, nobody told us anything. We missed the included breakfast on the first day because no one explained where it was or what time it ran. We might also have been fined for parking if we hadn't overheard another conversation about entering our car registration. They overcharged us as well, though we finally got the money back a week later. I spoke to the Manager, who made a list of the issues and promised an email to address them and apologize, but that never arrived. I don't recommend staying here.

The £12.50 glass of wine has left me traumatised, and there was a lot of road noise in the room. At least the bites on my legs and back are starting to get better. Not great.
