The ferry from Larne was cancelled, and we got moved to a later one, leaving us time to spare on our last day. We asked at the bar if there was anywhere to hire clubs since Ballyclare Golf Club was just across the road. Max (previous owner) had spoken with us the night before, and offered to lend us his clubs and arrange a second set. He even found left-handed clubs for my golf partner. The next morning we followed him to the club, where he left us with two sets and two trolleys. Absolute top bloke, and everyone there was just as friendly. We'd stayed three nights the previous year while watching The Open at Royal Portrush. It's a fair drive, but we usually stay about 45 minutes from the courses during The Open. I'd stayed here a few years earlier, so I knew where it was and remembered how friendly everyone was. The rooms were spacious and clean, though a little tired in places. The food and beer were great, and breakfast was excellent. We only managed to try it on the last day because we'd been setting off to golf at 04:30.

We were a big party without a booking, but they were really accommodating and the service was amazing. Every course was spot on, from starters through the main and dessert. Would recommend for food or drinks!

WOW, the food is incredible: hot, hearty plates and nicely presented. Even though it was very busy, service was prompt, friendly and excellent. Stuart was so helpful, nothing was a bother for him. They've got the pub classics along with a few more adventurous dishes. I've been a few times now and can safely say this is becoming a new favourite.

I went for drinks with friends last night, and that was my last visit. The tables were sticky and looked like they were rarely cleaned, the staff weren't welcoming, and the service was despicable. The public WIFI didn't work either. Has all this really changed since it was bought over? Nothing adds up. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Absolutely shocking.

We had a family dinner here and the relaxed atmosphere made for a lovely evening. The food was good quality and well presented, even on a busy night, and the smiling staff handled every little extra we asked for. Great food, service and atmosphere. We'll return and I'd recommend it. There is a very large pothole in the car park that needs urgent attention.
