The staff were helpful when they moved us to a table near the food. My wife is heavily pregnant, and our original table was up a short flight of stairs, so the change made things easier. The food was good, with no complaints from us. A man playing guitar provided entertainment and filled the quiet in the room nicely.
At £16.99 per adult, I expected the carvery to be better quality, but the food was bland. The one bright spot was the meat: the chef either wasn’t great with the carving knife or was generous with the portions. It’s a Sunday carvery where you’re meant to go back for more than one serving.
I tried the 'Beat The Clock' menu on a weekday around 6pm, with a good choice of mains at £7 each. My chicken and bacon burger with curly fries was incredible for the price, and the portion was massive. The food was solid traditional fare, the staff were happy to help, and the views over Belfast Lough were awesome. It’s a great spot with friendly people and a relaxed feel.
This place felt dirty and run down, and the glasses and cutlery weren’t clean. While my child was still eating, five different staff members tried to take her plate. Then one of them took her ice cream without asking while I was cleaning her dress after she spilled on it. Don’t waste your money. I suspect the good reviews are from staff and their friends.
The staff were polite, kind, courteous and funny. The room was stunning, with a genuinely comfortable double bed, a new shower and a TV with all the best channels.
