We’ve already started looking at dates to come back, and I’d recommend this cottage 100%. The hot tub and garden were perfect for the family and our furbaby, and there was everything we needed, including a log burner for the chilly evenings. The hosts were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was immaculate, and from the smell of bread baking when we arrived to leaving this morning, we had a fantastic week at Springwater View cottage at Mickleton. We also popped into the Blacksmiths Arms yesterday for beautiful pizza and a chat with friendly locals, one of whom turned out to have mutual friends with us. Thanks again for such a wonderful time, from me, the family and Bonnie.

The owners really deserve credit for being dog friendly, not just dog tolerant. There weren’t lots of restrictions, and it felt like the dogs were genuinely welcome. The hot tub was a bonus, and Julie used it every day! The house was lovely and clean, the beds very comfortable, and the kitchen had what we needed. We arranged a Tesco delivery for arrival day to make things easier, which I’d recommend. After our long drive, the fresh loaf in the bread machine, plus fruit cake and biscuits, were lovely. Thank you for those treats and the freshly baked bread aroma when we walked in. We went to Barnard Castle a few times. Saturday was very busy and parking was limited, but Fish and chips @ 149 was the best fish and chip shop we’ve ever tried. There were lovely ice cream shops too, and Morrisons and Lidl if you need anything. We also had a few walks. From the High Force Hotel car park, the walk to High Force waterfall costs £3.50 per person, with tickets available online or at the waterfall. The scenery was beautiful, and the dogs could run through the woods. Another lovely route goes from Bowlees visitors center to High Force Hotel. Dogs need to stay on lead there, and there are a few waterfalls and Gibsons cave along the way. We didn’t manage the Teesdale railway walk. For a local dog walk, head out the back gate and straight down the lane to an open field where the dogs can run to the bridge. We didn’t explore beyond it, but there’s a public footpath there. We highly recommend eating at the High Force Hotel too. The food was reasonably priced and delicious, the hot meat cibatta was amazing, and they made a fuss of the dogs. There’s still plenty for us to visit, so we’ll definitely be back. Thanks so much for a lovely holiday!

We brought our e-bikes and there was more than enough storage for them. The hot tub was a lovely way to unwind in the evening and think back over the day’s activities. We visited in July 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is comfortable and finished to a high standard. We highly recommend this holiday home and Mickleton, especially the Blacksmith's Arms, the local egg sellers and the great walks starting from the house.

A lovely weekend with friends and family, just the sort of girly break we wanted. The property was very clean and well equipped, and we enjoyed the hot tub. We had our Christmas meal at the local pub, The Crown, and it was great.

We had a great weekend with the whole family. The cottage was very well equipped, everyone made us feel welcome, and the area had lovely scenery.
