YHA Langdon Beck

The views are stunning, and it’s a quiet spot with excellent value. Everything was very clean and tidy, the WiFi worked flawlessly, and there were night lights beside the bed. There aren’t many parking spaces, and the staff were impolite. There were no proper signs or directions to find the place, and there are no cameras. The heating made it too hot, the building didn't match the image, and there was lots of banging noise when we were trying to sleep.

There’s easy access to the Pennine Way, and we had a great day ring walk. We followed the route south to the nearby waterfall and dam, then turned north along the reservoir access road back to the hostel. The rooms were lovely and clean, with outstanding views across the North Pennines and surrounding countryside. The kitchen was excellent, and the dining room and lounge were comfortable. No hotel has a location like this, proper wild, remote land.

The landscape views from YHA Langdon Beck are simply brilliant, and High Force Waterfall is an easy walk away. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. The location is quiet and isolated, and the room, kitchen, showers, and toilets were all very clean and tidy. WiFi worked fine during the short time I wanted to use it. There was no phone signal at all, but that’s why I stayed there.

We hired the whole place for my sister-in-law’s 40th birthday, with 32 of us there, and had a fab weekend. The facilities are great, everything was super clean, and it’s a lovely destination for a special weekend away. The kitchen had everything we needed and more: two ovens, a microwave, two sinks, and washing-up supplies. The showers were great too. There are walks within two miles, beautiful scenery from the hostel, and parking for eight cars, or more if they’re small.
