The games room was a lifesaver when the weather turned, and we all loved the hot tub and its lovely views. It cost extra, but felt worth it as a place to unwind. We were a group of 16 at Bracken House, and there was plenty of room for everyone. The bedrooms were generous, each with its own en-suite, which made a big group stay feel private and easy. The house had everything we needed. Emilie was really helpful and quick to respond while we were booking and organising, and Mandy the housekeeper went out of her way to help us during the stay. A great spot for a group break, and we'd happily return.

The kitchen view was amazing, and the bedrooms were lovely, with an exceptionally comfortable bed in ours. We spent New Year here with friends. The house is huge, yet still feels cosy and comfortable. It was also very clean and well appointed. We'll be back.

We booked Bracken House for my mother's 80th birthday so three generations could get together somewhere special. The layout worked brilliantly for everyone, from cosy corners where the adults could sit and talk to enough floor space for the little ones to run around, even in the rain. They could also enjoy the grounds, the ducks and geese, the local small animal farm and all the games, so the TV never needed to go on. There was always a sense they were safe in the house or outside. The rooms were stylish without losing that homely feel. The main sitting room stayed cosy even with lots of sleepy people in it, and the wood burner added to the feeling of being at home. The second sitting room was another warm, snug space and became a quiet retreat from the hordes. The pool and darts room brought back some skills from misspent youths. The dining room seated everyone comfortably, and every bedroom was occupied. The bedrooms were very comfortable, the bathrooms beautiful, and there was always piping hot water for showers and baths. The top floor suite felt luxurious enough to rival even the most exclusive boutique hotels. The kitchen was spacious and had more than enough equipment to cook for 20. Two dishwashers were a stroke of genius. There was enough comfortable seating for everyone without getting in the way of cooking, though those huge windows and the incredible view can be distracting. On Friday, we tried the fish and chip van in the village, a delicious easy meal after our drives. Everyone kept commenting on the care put into the recent refurbishment. We had a brilliant time in a beautiful house and setting, and couldn't recommend it more.

We came back to Bracken House for our second visit. The rooms are very comfortable, the showers are fantastic and breakfast was excellent. We asked for dinner one night and it was superb. Guy is a great host, and Lottie? the black Labrador is a real charmer.

We only stayed for one night, but we'd certainly return. Guy and Sue made us feel at home from the start, and Lottie the Labrador and Pepper the cat were welcoming too. Breakfast had loads of choice, freshly cooked with local eggs, bacon and sausages, and served in a lovely dining room overlooking the grounds. The house and gardens are stunning, and the rooms and en-suites are exceptionally good. It's a truly lovely, comfortable B&B, and I can't rate it highly enough. It was once a rectory and also the childhood holiday home of PG Wodehouse, author of Jeeves & Wooster. Highly recommended.
