Travelodge Barnstaple

The staff were friendly and professional, which made the place feel a bit more upmarket than the very budget-friendly price suggests. Travelodhe is fairly consistent, and this was a good example: the room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed, a decent shower, and quiet. It's basic, with no hairdryer, moisturiser, free conditioner, complimentary biscuit, or even a view, but it had what we needed for an overnight stay. Travelodge doesn't claim to be luxury, and for the price it's excellent value.

The staff were very welcoming and explained everything when we arrived, and the beds were comfortable. We stayed four nights in a triple room and were generally pleased, knowing what to expect. Breakfast choices are very limited, though there are plenty of places to eat a short walk away. From our ground-floor room we could hear the people above walking around at night, but luckily it didn't bother us much. I did find rubbish left loose in the bin after removing the liner, apparently from a previous guest.

We booked at the last minute, and the rooms were clean and very quiet for resting. The staff were hard to fault. I think the manager was called Emma, though apologies if I've got that wrong. She was amazing and showed a level of kindness beyond what her role called for.

The rooms were clean and presentable, and the beds were comfortable. Service was great, with staff who were friendly and really helpful. The only thing was that construction work was happening right outside, and I wish we'd been on the other side.
