The Clarkes Hotel

I travel for work, and finding somewhere to stay can be daunting. Glad I found this little gem: the location is fantastic, quiet and picturesque, and the rooms look great. The building is old, so there are a few minor issues, but the owner has clearly paid attention to the aesthetics. I didn't try the food this time, so that's for next month when I'm back in the area. Thanks for the upgrade too. I look forward to room 10 again.

The vegetables were badly undercooked, the service was slow, and the restaurant was cool. Very poor, I won't be back.

My friend and I arrived early, when it was quiet apart from a few people at the bar, but the place filled up quickly while we ate. Booking would probably be wise. The waitresses were both friendly and lovely, and the service was excellent. My friend couldn't finish the larger scampi portion, while the small one was just right for me. The scampi was delicious and perfectly cooked, with a generous helping of mushy peas. The salt n pepper chips were the best I've ever had. First time back at The Clarkes in years, and I'm so glad I went. 10/10 from me.

I stayed one night for work purposes. The food and drinks were really good, and service was speedy. My room was clean and tidy, with just a few tiny niggles, which you can expect in any hotel. I'd highly recommend it and would definitely stay again.
