Valley View

The breakfast was the highlight for me, with amazing, really good-quality produce. The evening meal was good too, though a little overpriced for what you get. Staff were great, and I slept well, but the bed could use a new mattress. The bathroom was great, although they need to look at the plug. The design wasn’t to my taste, but I had a good night. I’d give it four stars because of the breakfast.

We had my Mum’s 80th birthday lunch here on Sunday, and it was a lovely setting for a party. The food and service were excellent. There seemed to be just two waitresses, but they got meals out to all 13 of us quickly. Well done to everyone involved.

The night Porter put on three steaks and served us a brilliant meal after we arrived on Sunday night and discovered the kitchen was closed. We later learned he’d had a lumbar puncture that day, so I was really impressed by the staff’s commitment. Everyone was friendly, and the rooms were nice with comfortable beds.

We had a lovely time in the cafe, playing trivial pursuits and having hot chocolate, coffee and tea. The staff and setting were lovely, and it was nice to walk around the gardens and sit outside. A bigger gluten-free cake selection would be welcome.
