Goodstay Lodges by Urban Space

I've never paid for a more uncomfortable experience. It looked great but hadn't been thought through, and I came back from my holiday with a bad back. A hotel would have been cheaper.

The area is lively but still very quiet, and even though our place was right across from a restaurant, we weren't disturbed at all. At night the area is closed off, and you need a number to get in, so it feels safe. We had a good five-day stay at Goodstay Lodges. The bedroom was great. The beds were comfortable, there were four pillows and a duvet, and the closets were spacious. The ironing board was stored under the bed. There are two heaters, one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom, and they warm up quickly. There are only two sockets on one side of the bed and none on the other. That's manageable, but having sockets on both sides would be useful for charging phones and using them as alarm clocks. The kitchen is small but practical and well equipped, with everything needed. Ours was a bit dirty, though, and the paper towels were wet and wrinkled. They leave a cleaning kit with two rubbish bags, a cloth, a disposable cloth, a scouring pad, and a small bottle of washing-up liquid. There's nowhere to dry utensils or set washed dishes, since the counter is small, so we understand how the paper towels got so battered. The bathroom has a few awkward features. The sink sits above the toilet, which makes it a bit tricky to use. There isn't much room for toiletries, so extra shelves by the sink and in the shower would help. There are no bathroom sockets either, so if your shaver battery is low or you need a hairdryer, you have to use the bedroom. The kitchen obviously isn't an option, and doing that in the bedroom doesn't feel very hygienic. The water heater was fitted backwards, so the hot and cold indicators were the wrong way around. Once we figured that out, the water heated quickly. The shower drain is poor: after about three minutes the shower fills up and water leaks out beside the screen. The space works fine for two people, but not for a stay of many days. A few things could be improved, though we still had a pleasant stay.
