The location was a real pleasure. I took the longer route through Widcombe and along the canal, with a stop at Landrace Bakery for a chocolate cinnamon bun. I lived in Bath about ten years ago, and staying at Leighton House brought back what I loved about the city, while the house itself felt peaceful, beautifully designed, and special. We had a twin room with comfortable beds, plenty of space, and a generous bathroom with a proper rain shower. The lighting, furniture, Verden toiletries, and good tea and coffee all felt well considered. The house is gorgeous, with lovely artwork, and I especially liked the breakfast room and its ceramic bowls. Breakfast was excellent, especially the scrambled eggs. The staff were kind and attentive. It made a perfect base for our girls’ trip, and I’d happily stay here again or recommend it.

The uphill walk back from town is something to bear in mind, though it didn’t bother me and felt like a fair trade for having parking. I was here alone on a business trip and found the place quiet and comfortable. The breakfast may be the best I’ve had at a hotel, and the staff were really helpful, both in person and by email beforehand. I’d definitely return.

Breakfast was a highlight: delicious, nicely prepared, with cooked and continental choices. There were fresh juices, yogurt, muesli seeds with berries, mini pastries, dried and fresh fruit, and more. Scrumptious really does fit. The house has beautiful flower arrangements and little details that are a pleasure to notice, and it still feels relaxed. There’s also a fab little bar in the lounge with all you need for a lovely time. The staff were warm, attentive, and welcoming, which made things feel personal. We had a twin room, thoughtfully styled and very comfortable. Soft lighting, a roomy bathroom, underfloor heating, and a gorgeous shower made it easy to unwind, and the beds were wonderfully cosy. From arrival, the whole place felt calm and quietly joyful. It’s been surprisingly hard to get back to everyday life after staying at Leighton House. I left rested and restored, and would wholeheartedly recommend it. Thank you so much!

The room felt a little small for the price, though the free parking, tea and coffee in the room, and lovely breakfast made it hard to complain. The towels, quilt, and pillows were sumptuous, and the staff were friendly and polite. We had a lovely one night stay at this charming guesthouse in a charming city. The beautiful smell and little mince pies on arrival were lovely touches. We’d definitely come back.

The uphill walk back from the centre is worth knowing about, though it’s only about ten minutes downhill into town. We had a superior double with plenty of space and soft, sumptuous bedding, and slept really well. The lounge was delightful, with flowers, art in the hallways, and a self-serve spot for tea and milk. Daniel gave us a lovely welcome and showed us our room. Breakfast was delicious and cooked just right, with cookies, jam, and juices too. The young women serving were lovely, though we found the breakfast room rather cold and thought the heat could have been turned up. The bathroom could have been cleaner. There was grime and dust on the door panels, a little mold around the shower, and a bobble left in there. The soap and moisturiser dispensers looked dirty too. Maybe it was a rushed clean. I also expected the room to have the books, dried flowers, and design lamp shown in the photos. The chair covers could use a deep clean or replacing, and the scratched walls near the hangers and chairs could do with repainting. None of that spoiled an otherwise lovely post festive stay. We thought parking and breakfast included was good value. Bikanos Indian was a top notch meal, and The Moorfields pub had great live music and friendly locals.
