Osprey Meadow Holiday Cottages

We stayed with friends and family for my mother’s 70th birthday. The place was much bigger than the photos suggested, with fantastic amenities, games, heaters and DVDs to borrow, plus a park for the kids. The local pub, the Exelby Green Dragon, was fantastic too, and everyone was lovely. Highly recommend. I’m sure we’ll be back!

We had a great base for two nights with the dogs at Ploughmans. The cottage was beautiful, cosy and fully equipped, with a private garden and outdoor seating. There’s also plenty of space for dogs to run in the recreation field. The welcome book had lots of useful information. A hi-vis jacket came in handy for the evening walk to the Green Dragon pub, but take care as you’ll be walking along the road.

We had a lovely country stay in the ploughman’s cottage at Osprey Meadow with our puppy. It had everything we needed, and there’s outdoor seating at each cottage with parking close by. We also noticed a camping area. Our dog loved the nearby recreation field, which also has a decent play area for children and some friendly geese. There’s a dog friendly pub within walking distance, and Bedale, one of our favourite little towns, is a short drive away. I think you could walk there on a nice day. There’s a lovely park opposite the church where we could walk the puppy. We’d definitely recommend staying here.

A beautiful place to stay, with comfortable, well heated rooms and a handy location for exploring North Yorkshire. It could do with a little updating, though it still feels like decent value.
