Travelodge Bedford

The staff were nice and helpful, and the room was basic but clean. The location was decent. There are manufacturers next door with noisy equipment running at all hours, which was a bit of a nuisance.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location suited what I needed. The bed was comfortable, but the room wasn't good. There were stains in the bath and brown marks on the floor, while the taps were covered in limescale. The shower-change handle was missing, paint was cracked and peeling on the ceiling where it met the tiles, and the extractor either didn't work or did nothing. The bathroom cleaning was very poor. In the main room, the windowsill had missing paint and black mould.

After a long work drive from the North East, I arrived exhausted and thought I was in for a bad day. The woman at reception who checked me in, whose name I didn't get, completely turned that around. She was chatty, told me a bit about the area, and just radiated positive energy. She even complimented my accent. The older-style Travelodge was very basic and could have done with a thorough clean, especially around the corners, but I really want to thank her for making the day great.

The furniture in our room was in terrible shape: the chairs were falling apart with chunks missing, and the table and desk were peeling. The bathroom sink had a huge crack, and there was no soap or shampoo, so luckily I'd brought my own. Then at 7:47am an “accidental” fire alarm woke us and badly scared me and my partner, triggering a panic and anxiety attack.
