Maldron Hotel Belfast City

The breakfast was excellent, with great quality and plenty to choose from, and the room was comfortable, clean and warm, with lovely beds, lots of towels and a good heating and air conditioning system. Everything felt relaxed and friendly. I was there with my son for two nights as a Christmas treat, and the staff made it feel special. The reception team welcomed us warmly and arranged a lovely surprise for him, which we really appreciated. The cleaning staff, Barbara, Eva and Kirsten, were kind, hardworking and easy to talk to. Their thoughtful towel decorations were a lovely touch. We had a wonderful stay. We'll definitely return, and I'd happily recommend the hotel.

We were able to check in at 11am because our room was ready, which was a real help after an early flight. The staff were great. The hotel is in a really good spot, one road back from the famous Europa Hotel. It's about a five-minute walk to the main road and its bus stops, and roughly ten minutes from the main high street.

Everyone I spoke to was pleasant, and the staff were lovely throughout. The woman on reception Wednesday night was especially nice. On Monday night, the gentleman at reception was great and gave me some ideas for places to visit. It's a beautiful hotel, and nothing seemed like too much trouble for the team. I'd come back, definitely 10 out of 10.

The location is right in the city centre, and the staff downstairs are pleasant and helpful. The facilities are good, with a nice bar, good food and stunning views. The problem is how the rooms are cleaned. My partner has been staying here for work, so I came to visit. On arrival I had to clean the dusty toilet myself. I first thought perhaps the cleaners hadn't been allowed in, but over the next few days the floors weren't cleaned, the shower wasn't wiped down and even the toilet seat was left. The tea and coffee tray needed washing too, and I rinsed the cups and spoons before each use. A strange spiderweb stayed on the wall the whole time, and there was rubbish under the nightstand. The cleaners seemed to change towels and top up the biscuits, tea and coffee, but not properly clean the room. There was also a very sickly bathroom smell, almost like sewage, though I'm not sure what caused it. It's a shame because the room cleaning is letting the place down. Dirty rooms are a big issue, and I wouldn't give this four stars, three at most.
