Brown Rigg Guest Rooms

We had the accessible room because my wife uses a wheelchair, and it worked absolutely fine. The wet room was a good size, and the rooms were lovely and clean. There’s also a shared kitchen with all the basic amenities. The lodges are well placed for lots of sightseeing.

A lovely place to stay. Our room was spacious and immaculate, with tea, coffee, and a hairdryer, and the kitchen facilities were just as clean. The host was friendly when we arrived, and the setting just outside Bellingham is peaceful and undisturbed. A personal connection made the stay feel especially meaningful: my father told me my late mother had been here as a little girl, evacuated during the war. Synchronicity. Thank you. Recommended.

We rented a lodge that was pleasant but basic inside, and there wasn’t much attention to detail. We had to bring our own toilet paper and kitchen roll, and there was no surface cleaner, salt, pepper, foil, greaseproof paper, sandwich bags, or other cooking supplies. We often rent places like this and basic items have always been provided elsewhere, so here you’re expected to take everything with you. It seems good value if six people stay, but not for two. With a change in attitude from the owners, the lodges could feel more homely for very little outlay.

Brownriggs is in a beautiful, peaceful spot, and we had a lovely stay in the lodge. It was fully equipped and very clean, with comfy beds and a good shower. The owners are on site and really helpful. Bellingham is a nice walk away or a 10 minute drive, with pubs, a Co-op, butcher, chemist, post office, gift shop, and the lovely shop Lunch, where you can get pies and cakes. Would definitely recommend.
