The Lion Hotel

We were disappointed with the meal. The steak wasn’t available, but we only found out more than 15 minutes after ordering, when we’d already been seated. There was no cheese board either, which seemed odd when baked cheesecake was on the menu. The cheesecake arrived as layers of soft mixture with a couple of layers of crumbled biscuit, not what I expected. The Salmon Ravioli wasn’t filled with salmon. It came with a salmon sauce containing a few whole prawns, which we had to fish out and dissect on a side plate. They’d have worked better on the side as a garnish. It’s a shame, as other people had given us good reviews.

The service was excellent, and the chef filleted the delicious Sea Bass for my friend and me. We had a fabulous meal tonight and will definitely be back. Jane

The food was lovely at dinner and even better at breakfast. The hotel, pub and rooms were immaculate, with decor and colours we really enjoyed. Our room faced the main road and sat directly above a restaurant speaker, but I think it was switched off at 10. I slept really well, though, and the bed and pillows were perfect. It was handy to have extra tea and coffee supplies in the hall, and we appreciated the face flannel. The staff were lovely too. We stayed one night but would gladly have stayed longer, and would come again.

We had a quiet, comfortable stay in the blue room, which looked over the churchyard. Each room has its own theme, and the place is set in a pretty village. The evening meal was top class, the beer was good, and breakfast was lovely too. Management and staff were friendly, helpful and supportive. Highly recommended.
