The place had a really odd vibe, and the room was dark and hot. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, and it hadn’t been made clear that we’d have to pay for bedding. The cafe was closed, even though we’d been relying on it, and we were lucky to find a hotel round the corner. Shaun did let us store our bags and gave us a key so we could check in fairly late, which we appreciated. That bit of hospitality didn’t make up for the generally low quality. Then there was a human-sized cardboard cut-out of a police officer at reception. Shaun moved it outside our room, facing us while we slept, and it gave us a fright when we opened the door in the morning. When we asked about it, he seemed to find it funny. It was incredibly weird behaviour. This is genuinely and sincerely one of the worst hostels we’ve stayed at. If you can stay somewhere else, I would. From his responses to other feedback, I’d recommend Shaun finds a new line of business. Hosting guests doesn’t seem to suit him.

We stopped on the way for a toasty and had great service and food in a lovely spot. :)

The on-site café served a great breakfast, and the shared kitchen and lounge were well equipped. Our room was clean and well maintained, the staff were welcoming and helpful, and the location is ideal for exploring Holy Island. Eat and Sleep Lindisfarne was a comfortable, affordable stay, and I’d highly recommend it to solo travellers or anyone visiting the area.

There’s a spacious area with an amazing sunrise view, plus a WC accessible toilet. The bed is very basic bunk beds with no sheets, so be aware of that. The kitchen has a freeze, microwave, kettle, tea-coffee and other necessary amenities. There’s also a laundry machine at the filling station, which is the bus stop. I stayed here to visit Holy Island and loved it. Shawn was very friendly and helpful throughout. A direct bus runs from the train station, but there are very few each day, so plan accordingly. The buses are 477, X18 & X15.
