The house has a huge book collection, over 4,000, which made me rethink my own shelves. There are also award-winning homemade jams, preserves and marmalade for sale. Gregory gave us a warm welcome and looked after my vegetarian breakfast. The room was comfortable, with an open view across the surrounding fields, and came with a TV, towel and kettle. The bathroom is shared, and the small car park beside the old schoolhouse fits about three cars. We also met Jinx, the friendly fluffy black-and-white cat. It's a grand house, and I'd happily stay again. Thank you, Gregory.

The cooked breakfast was spot on, and the host was fantastic. It's a beautiful 19th-century building, with gorgeous oil paintings throughout. I'll certainly come back.

The price was very reasonable, and I had a nice two-night stay. The proprietor was cheerful and made me feel welcome. The decor has a homely manor-house feel, and my single room had everything I needed. The bathroom was shared. Thank you.

The breakfast was fantastic, and the host was delightful. I had a lovely-sized room with a comfortable bed. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

The house felt elegant and peaceful, with a real sense of history, and it was immaculately clean. The owner was very caring. It's in a quiet, remote rural spot, so shops are a little way off. Parking was perfect, and breakfast has to be booked before bedtime. Mrs Jones's fresh homemade jam is served at breakfast and available to buy. Sharing a bathroom could be a downside, but for me it made the stay a gem of a unique experience.
