The room was good, and otherwise the stay was okay, but we were locked out for a while. The hotel uses a code and electronic lock, and the one we had didn't work when we got back after a night out. A couple who arrived about 20 minutes later were also guests and let us in with their code. If they hadn't turned up, we might have been stuck outside longer. We tried the code several times and called the emergency number the hotel had given us, but nobody answered. We stayed here in November 2024.

The host was very welcoming, and the decor was fresh throughout. Our room looked like it had been decorated recently. We stayed in one of the two attic rooms, and while it might suit a short weekend, we found its size and sloping ceiling a bit awkward over a full week. The ensuite bathroom was excellent, and the small fridge and tea and coffee facilities were handy. It's only a few minutes' walk to the high street and local sights, and we enjoyed our stay.

They put in a lot of work cleaning and getting the rooms ready, and the rooms are great to sleep in. We were even allowed to use the sitting area after checkout while we explored town and waited for a taxi during a storm. It made a great stopover, with excellent fish and chips in town. The breakfast just around the corner is almost worth staying for on its own.

I couldn't have been happier with my stay. The staff were friendly, and the clean, characterful room felt more homely than a Travelodge. It was well equipped, with a fridge holding two bottles of cold water, plus tea and coffee and a fan. The location makes it easy to explore everything Berwick-upon-tweed has to offer, and I could come and go as I pleased. There's also a little shared lounge with a coffee pod machine, juice and snack bars available all day. I'd highly recommend it and would definitely return.

Anne gave us such a warm welcome, and went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. She has infectious energy. Our clean, comfortable room came with a huge bowl of chocolates, and there was a great breakfast selection. I'd happily recommend this guest house and will book again when I visit Berwick.
